Home Hardening
Embers, carried by the wind during fires, are considered the most dangerous part of wildfires. This is why it is important to consider how vulnerable a property is even if it is not directly in the fire zone. However, there are steps that can be taken to “harden” a home in preparation. “Home Hardening" refers to building resistant materials and home features that protect a home from catching fire.
C.A.R.’s Member Legal has put together a legal Q&A to provide general information regarding home hardening disclosure requirements for properties that are within certain parameters of fire zones, built before a certain year and are classified as specific types of properties.
