The CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® Housing Affordability Fund (HAF) plays an active role in addressing the ongoing housing affordability challenges facing California. HAF will raise and distribute funds in partnership with local associations and other groups to promote housing and homeownership.

November, 2002, CALIFORNIA REALTORS® unveiled the Housing Affordability Fund, a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to addressing California’s growing housing affordability crisis. In the midst of skyrocketing housing costs, REALTORS® were bearing witness to more working families getting pushed away from the American dream of homeownership. The Housing Affordability Fund was established to provide more options for first time home-buyers entry into homeownership.

Why It Matters

Homeownership is the foundation of strong, stable communities – but for too many Californians, it is out of reach. HAF works to change that, creating opportunities for first-time buyers and helping more families achieve the dream of owning a home

Mission
The Housing Affordability Fund (HAF) is dedicated to tackling California’s ongoing housing affordability challenges. In partnership with local associations and community groups, HAF raises and distributes funds to promote housing opportunities and expand access to home ownership.

The HAF Story
Launched in November 2002 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Housing Affordability Fund (HAF) was created in response to California’s growing housing affordability crisis. As home prices soared, REALTORS® witnessed countless working families being pushed out of the dream of homeownership. HAF was established to provide practical solutions and pathways for first-time buyers, helping more Californians achieve a place to call home.
